Dr. Theresa Williams is chief operating officer for Plano Independent School District (ISD) in Texas, a system with approximately 52,000 students and 7,000 employees. There, she oversees day‐to‐day operations and provides leadership and guidance to the administrative cabinet in support of the district’s mission, vision, and goals.

Williams has spent her nearly 30-year career in education advocating for marginalized students and working to implement more equitable systems that ensure all children have the opportunities they need to succeed. Prior to joining Plano ISD, she held leadership roles in other Texas school districts, including deputy superintendent in Lubbock ISD and executive director of educational operations in Garland ISD. She has also overseen special programs and student services, and has been a principal, assistant principal, and teacher.

Williams holds a doctorate of education and a master’s in educational administration and supervision from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She earned her bachelor’s from Texas Tech University
