As chief in residence, Dr. Peter Gorman supports our members and participants in our Future Chiefs leadership development program by providing coaching, advising, and thought partnership. With more than 30 years of experience in education, he is also the president and CEO of Peter Gorman Leadership Associates LLC, contributing editor for Board and Administrator, and superintendent in residence for the District Administration Leadership Institute and the National Superintendents Academy. Prior to starting his own firm, he worked for NewsCorp and its education subsidiary Amplify.

Gorman began his career as a second-grade teacher in Orlando, Fla. He was a teacher, principal, and district-level administrator in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties in Florida before becoming superintendent of schools in Tustin, Calif. Later, as superintendent of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, N.C., he led the district to win the 2011 Broad Prize in Urban Education for increasing in student achievement and closing achievement gaps.
